On Monday, March 13, 2026, an online workshop titled \u201cAn Introduction to Bioeconomy \u2013 Good Practices and Opportunities\u201d was held as part of the project EECPFP<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matea Kal\u010di\u0107ek<\/strong> and Vedran Krstulovi\u0107<\/strong> from the Energy Institute Hrvoje Po\u017ear (EIHP) presented European experiences in bioeconomy to partners from BIFFL<\/a> (Bangladesh Infrastructure Financing Facility), highlighting it as a modern approach to the circular economy. Matea showcased the results and notable potential of the EU RIBES project, while Vedran presented its connection to the parent project and possible avenues for implementation. They encouraged partners to explore new market opportunities for financing decarbonisation measures and to identify available resources (such as industrial biomass residues, recyclable plastics, and many others). A key prerequisite for this is a high-quality preliminary analysis of local resources in Bangladesh. The country\u2019s rapidly growing industry, combined with its high population density, significantly contributes to energy consumption and environmental impact. Therefore, the targeted introduction of circular economy practices could yield substantial economic and environmental benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2018, EIHP experts have been participating in the \u201cEnergy Efficiency and Conservation Promotion Financing Project\u201d (EECPFP), implemented in Bangladesh with ODA financing from the Japanese government agency JICA<\/a>. The project aims to provide financial support to the country\u2019s industry to implement energy efficiency measures and reduce emissions. The project activity category \u201ctechnical capacity building,\u201d primarily the responsibility of EIHP within the tripartite consulting consortium (JDI Tokyo<\/a>, YC Dhaka<\/a>, EIHP), enables direct knowledge exchange and discussions on technological and financial topics central to today\u2019s energy sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
