Study visit of a delegation from the Western Balkans

Regional Energy Agency of Northwest Croatia (REGEA) in cooperation with the German Cooperation for International Cooperation (GIZ) organized a visit of a delegation from the Western Balkans, with the aim of transferring knowledge and experience of the Republic of Croatia in the field of energy transition, environmental protection and climate to Western Balkans.

The delegation consisted of 25 delegates: 12 representatives from Parliaments of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia and Serbia) who are members of the Green Parliamentary Groups with 6 parliamentary staff, 6 representatives, and GIZ and REGEA employees.

During their two-day stay, the delegates visited the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia, where they were hosted by Julije Domac, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Energy and Climate and Head of REGEA, while Željko Jurić from the Department of Energy and Climate Planning of the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar presented the carbon footprint project of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, activities carried out so far, and expected results. On the topic of carbon footprint, cooperation has been agreed with the Ministry on two projects. As part of the Pilot Project for Carbon Footprint Calculation in Selected Public Administration Bodies, EIHP plans to calculate the carbon footprint of the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian Parliament, the Office of the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Economy. In cooperation with Ekonergo, a database of greenhouse gas emission factors is being prepared. The results of these two projects should be ready in the fall of this year.

For the delegation, a reception in the Croatian Parliament, a tour of the Bračak Energy Center and the Zabok General Hospital with a solar power plant, and a visit to the project location of the City of Zagreb: school and solar power plant were organized.
