"Increasing the use of renewable energy sources in Supernova shopping centers"

Member companies of the Supernova group - Supernova projekti and Supernova Sisak West, and partner companies Sirius Sisak East and Åpenhet AS, implemented three pilot projects of the construction of integrated photovoltaic power plants on the roofs of the shopping centers Supernova Sisak East and Supernova Sisak West. The total power of the installed photovoltaic power plants is 722.42 kW, which will produce 751,224 kWh of renewable energy.

In accordance with the achieved increase in energy production from renewable energy sources, the project significantly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the amount of 119.14 tons of CO2 per year. Thanks to installing solar panels, the Supernova Sisak West shopping center will provide 30 percent, and the Supernova Sisak East shopping center will provide 40 percent of the total required energy from renewable sources.

The project is worth slightly more than 620 thousand euros, of which more than 40 percent was financed from grants, and will contribute to the goals of the European Green Plan. The project's primary goal is to promote the use of sustainable energy sources in the trade sector, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the security of supply.

The project was financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the "Energy and Climate Change" Program as part of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area for the period 2014-2021, with national co-financing from the Republic of Croatia. Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar is a project partner of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.
