Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar is proud to be a partner in Greet GEO: Green transition with geothermal energy. The EU funded project aims to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems and accelerate the uptake of geothermal energy across Europe focusing on supporting SMEs in less developed Central European regions (Pannonian Basin) and selected outermost regions through a holistic approach to geothermal development.

Greet GEO aims to increase the capacity of the selected regional innovation ecosystems by:
- Supporting SMEs and local stakeholders in developing geothermal projects.
- Promoting sustainable energy using deep and shallow geothermal resources for electricity, heating, and industrial applications.
- Enhancing interregional collaboration, sharing knowledge and best practices, and strengthening geothermal value chains.
- Developing enabling policy frameworks to overcome regulatory and financial barriers to geothermal investments.
Greet GEO involves experts from over 10 regions and more than 20 key stakeholders, ensuring a strong territorial impact and exchange of expertise.

The project is financed through the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument under the European Regional and Development Fund (ERDF), supports interregional innovation projects in their scale-up and commercialisation phases. It helps overcome regulatory and market barriers, bringing projects to an investment level.
