Are we on the right track?

Renewable energy sources are a vital part of the global energy strategy, and investments in this sector are an ecological and economic imperative. Where is Croatia in that story, and what are its prospects? Where are we progressing, where are we regressing, and where are the bottlenecks in realising RES projects?

"Croatia has all the trump cards for a green transition, but the path towards greater use of renewable energy sources is challenging. The green energy transition is undoubtedly accelerating, which can be seen through the growth of new installations of renewable sources, primarily integrated solar power plants. Currently, 1,137 MW from wind farms are connected to the grid, and we have also exceeded 1,000 MW from new production facilities based on renewable sources connected to the distribution network. This accelerated growth is also shown by the average monthly growth of solar power plants connected on distribution, from about 20 MW per month in 2023 to more than 50 MW, recorded in May this year", writes Dražen Jakšić, director of EIHP.
