Matija Vajdić lectured on RES at the student conference "BUS 2025."

This year's 14th conference, "The Future of Comfortable Living" (BUS 2025), entitled "GreenTalks: Beyond the Frame", was held on Saturday, March 29, at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. The conference was organised by the Student Association for the Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Consulting (SUPEUS) and brought together more than 170 students of various technical disciplines from four cities (Zagreb, Šibenik, Osijek and Rijeka) and experts from different fields of science and industry.

The "BUS 2025" conference was held in three blocks: two blocks of lectures by expert partners and lecturers, and three blocks of a panel discussion entitled "How much does a sustainable future cost us?"

The third lecture was given by Matija Vajdić, Head of the Department for Renewable Energy and Environmental Protection at the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar, entitled "Renewable Energy Sources in Croatia: Key Challenges and Solutions for Their Integration". The lecture provided an overview of the current state of renewable energy sources in Croatia, emphasising the challenges slowing down their wider application. Technical issues such as the electricity grid's stability and production variability were discussed, as well as regulatory and administrative constraints. Through concrete solutions – grid modernisation, digitalisation, energy storage systems and adjusting market mechanisms – the importance of strategic planning for a successful energy transition was highlighted.
