On Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12 and 13, 2024, the final conference of the "Energy and Climate Change" Program was held in Rovinj, organized by the Program Manager, Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, with the support of the Program Partner, the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar ( EIHP) and the Donor Program Partner, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Administration, i.e. financial support from the donor countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein and the Kingdom of Norway through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA).
The conference brought together experts, stakeholders, project holders, and partners from Croatia and other donor countries. The goal was to present the results of the Program, which enabled a significant contribution to the energy transition and adaptation to climate change.
The results of the Program at the national level were presented by Stella Arneri, Program Manager on behalf of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, while Dražen Jakšić, Director of EIHP, presented the predefined project "Establishment of a National Training Center for Almost Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB)". As part of this project, the EIHP office building was renovated according to the nZEB standard, giving Croatia a modern educational center for energy efficiency.
The "Energy and Climate Change" Program had a budget of 20 million euros, of which donor countries provided 17 million euros, while the Republic of Croatia contributed 3 million euros. During the implementation of the Program, 172 solar power plants, one battery tank for electricity storage, three systems of heat pumps using sea energy, three well spaces for the use of geothermal energy, ten future geothermal wells with ready research and technical documentation, two databases with created interactive GIS maps for deep and shallow geothermal energy and the established National Training Center for almost zero energy buildings. Adaptation to climate change was promoted through all projects, and concrete steps towards an energetically sustainable future were ensured.
