With the VALUE4FARM project to sustainable agriculture

Defossilization of agriculture by combining sustainable agriculture with renewable energy production to meet farmers' needs in terms of electricity, heat, mobility, waste management and land management is the goal of the international VALUE4FARM project, in which one of the Croatian partners is the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar (EIHP). This will be achieved by demonstrating three local value chains based on renewable energy sources – including solar technologies, anaerobic digestion and biomethane production – in Italy, Belgium and Denmark. These technologies are integrated to create sustainability and circularity in farm operations, while replicas of these locations will be developed in Iceland, Italy and Poland to assess the possibility of broader application of the implemented solutions.

VALUE4FARM is funded with €6.3 million from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, which lasts 42 months (1 September 2023 – 28 February 2027) and brings together 14 partners. These are leading experts and institutions from various sectors from Belgium (Inagro and Mitis), Denmark (Aarhus University), Italy (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, REM Tec and CIB), Germany (Helmholtz GmbH), the Netherlands (Wageningen University), Croatia (EIHP), Poland (IUNG-PIB), Iceland (ORKIDEA), France (EUROQUALITY) and the United Kingdom (Reading University and World Biogas Association).
