The fourth meeting of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC) was held on March 1 and 2, 2023, at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the US Department of Energy, the American-Central European Business Association and the Atlantic Council.
This year's meeting began with a Business Forum on Wednesday, March 1, where energy security, energy transition, and infrastructure projects were discussed. One of the panelists was the director of EIHP Dražen Jakšić who participated in the discussion 'Country Spotlight: Croatia,' where he gave a brief overview of the energy scene in Croatia. He commented on energy security in Croatia and emphasized that Croatia has a strong position and has made significant progress. He also spoke about energy self-sufficiency and the necessity of new production capacities, emphasizing in this context the potential of geothermal energy, the energy of the Sun, wind, and the sea, as well as the opportunity to further promote rooftop solar power plants, where Croatia has a large untapped potential.
The ministerial meeting took place on Thursday, March 2, focusing on encouraging and strengthening solidarity among European countries amid the current energy crisis, energy transition, and further coordination and cooperation on energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
P-TECC is a US Department of Energy-led multilateral initiative that focuses on the rapid decarbonization of Central and Eastern European economies, helping strengthen energy security in the region, create business connections with US companies, and foster cooperation. P-TECC comprises twenty-four countries in Central and Eastern Europe and is complementary to the Three Seas Initiative with its focus on energy infrastructure, interconnection, and security.
